Join me August 4-6 for this Train the Trainer class. This class fulfills the training requirement for application to be a qualified instructor under Part 48. After completion of this class, participants will be able to apply for their IS (Instructor Surface) and/or IU(Instructor Underground) certifications through MSHA.
Typical minimum requirements for IS are 2-3 years experience and Train the Trainer Class completion.
Typical minimum requirements for IU are 3-5 years experience and Train the Trainer Class completion.
Course Structure
This course is structured in an informal, engaging manner, divided into the following sections, presented in a progressive order to ensure a natural flow of information:
Day 1
1. 1977 Mine Act – History and key sections and definitions and how they apply to training
2. Miner’s Rights – Explanation of Miner’s Rights under the Mine Act
3. Part 48 – Understanding the definitions, requirements and types of training for both subparts (a) and (b)
4. Training Plans – Detailed examination training plans, parts, how to use, and how to create
Day 2
5. Documentation – Explanation and examples of properly documenting training under Part 48 and record-keeping requirements
6. Principles of Adult Learning – Learning and identifying what works and what doesn’t, along with motivating adults thru training
7. Class Preparation – Hands-on training in learning from peers, developing lesson plans, using technical experts, and developing as a trainer
Day 3
8. Class Presentations – Each participant will create a presentation and present to the group to demonstrate aptitude in training. Constructive feedback will be provided
